Module 1 Reflections

Now that we've reached the end of Module 1, please take a few minutes to reflect on the following:

1. How has this module made you think differently about your role as an instructional designer?

2. Please also write about any other insights, questions, or concerns you want to reflect upon.

  1. 1. I realized today that there is a LOT of planning involved in a project-based learning activity. However, it is the guide for the daily, weekly and even longer lesson plans. I already know that I only develop the plan to follow...the students are actually teachingthemselves.

    2. I use the portaportal.com all the time ove the past year. It is extremely valuable.

  2. Joey, thank you for your thoughtful comments. PBL does require a lot of upfront planning, along with significant organization and structure. The result, however, is equally significant.

  3. 1. Having realized the importance of project-based learning I intend to increase the number of projects assign to students.

    2. Applying concepts to their daily lives is better for students because it allows them to relate and engage in a way that is meaningful to them.

1.) In going through the first module I learned that it is very important for students to work collaboratively. They need to become the facilitators of their own learning.
2.)One question I have though is how long do the projects need to be? Can it be short or does it have to be drawn out?

  5. Yesterday was very frustrating for me because I have little experience with projects and computers. I will learn and use this in my classroom.

  6. Yesterday.I spent most of my time consumed with the technology process rather than a focus on content. I come to this program already thoroughly invested in collaborative learning and effective and efficient group process activities. I expect to incorporate some project based activities as a way to enhance my stuents' growth and development.

  7. In the past, I have used student reflections in the classroom. Over the long term, they have limitations.

I have questions but I'm not sure what to ask.
