Module One Reflection
This module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer in the following ways. First of all, it has really made me think of needing to provide more authentic and real-world applications into my lessons by incorporating higher-order thinking around big ideas. I also look at my role as needing to create activities where students are actively engaged in the learning process.
Other insightful ideas or concepts that struck me as interesting was the fact that unit planning is not linear but rather circular in motion meaning it involves circling back to prior steps to guarantee alignment among components of my instructional design.
The only concern I feel at this point is the fact the district basically dictates through pacing guides what we teach and when we should be teaching it. So, I am not quite sure at this point how often I will be able to have the time to implement this concept of Project-Based teaching philosophy in my classroom. I am sure there is an easy way to incorporate it, but I am still new to all of this.
